The Detroit Lions agreed to terms on a three-year contract with outside linebacker DeAndre Levy on Wednesday. Tim Twentyman of the team’s official website first reported the news.
Levy, who turns 26 later this month, was selected by the Lions in the third round (No. 76 overall) in the 2009 NFL Draft out of Wisconsin and was scheduled to hit the open market on March 12. In four seasons, the 6-2, 238-pound linebacker has appeared in 57 games (50 starts) and registered a total of 348 tackles with two forced fumbles, 1.0 sack and five interceptions for 52 yards and one touchdown.

Justin Durant is the Lions’ other starting outside linebacker and is also an unrestricted free agent, but the team reportedly wants to bring him back in 2013 as well. After four seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars (2007-10), Durant took his talents to the Motor City and has collected 171 combined tackles with one forced fumble and 1.5 sacks in 29 games (26 starts) the past two seasons with the Lions.
