The Oakland Raiders hired Greg Olson as the new offensive coordinator, Steve Corkran of Contra Costa Times reports.
Olson brings 25 years of coaching experience (10 years in the NFL and 15 at the collegiate level) to the Raiders.
He’s spent six seasons in the league as an offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions (2005), St. Louis Rams (2006-07) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2009-11). His finest work in a premium NFL coaching position probably happened in 2010 with Tampa Bay.
Olson replaces Greg Knapp, who was fired after one season as the Raiders’ offensive coordinator.

Knapp became the quarterbacks coach for the Denver Broncos on Friday.
Olson, who was the Jacksonville Jaguars QBs coach in 2012, broke into the NFL in 2001 under Steve Mariucci and has a variety of offensive backgrounds. The Raiders look to place a stronger focus on the power running game under Olson.
