Tajh Boyd and Clemson are getting Sammy Watkins back for this ACC underrated tilt due to the Tigers remaining as the ACC’s last hope to steal a BCS bid from the Big 12 or Pac-12.
Clemson needs to run the table to get that opportunity and they need a ton of luck, but it all starts with taking care of their own business.
Georgia Tech is simply reeling right now with their inability to get off the field on defense. They rank 60th or worst in all four major defensive categories (run D, pass D, total D, scoring D).
Some have already discussed talking about the Yellow Jackets blowing a lead and eventually the game in overtime to Miami FL.
That is the perfect case of allowing your team to turn one loss into a second without even breathing. Losing to Middle Tennessee State at home 49-28 is flat out embarrassing and although the Sun Belt is one of the most improved conferences in the country, there is no excuse to lose that type of game at home.
The Yellow Jackets gave the Hokies all they could handle on Labor Day night, and the team has declined every week since.
The boiling point has been reached and now they could be in danger of missing the postseason and putting Paul Johnson on the hotseat. The Jackets need to bounce back immediately before it is too late, and the Bulldogs of Georgia are still on the slate as well.
BYU also comes to Atlanta which could be a loss after having lost to the Blue Raiders and many are questioning whether or not this team is capable of keeping it close against Clemson?
Their pass defense has been horrific and Boyd has a bevy of weapons to make you look like a junior varsity high school football team.
DeAndre Hopkins and Sammy Watkins will be playing on Sunday’s in the near future but running back Andre Ellington is in the same discussion. Tight end Brandon Ford is one of the quicker ones in the country, and the depth behind those stars are legit as anybody outside the top 10 teams in the nation.
The Clemson defense has been mediocre since they have given up their fair share of home runs, but they have enough athletes to get a few stops every ball game and quite frankly that is all they need right now.
The offense is averaging 40.20 PPG (20th) and they will be right around that number against a Yellow Jackets defense that simply looks lost more times than not.
