TCU- Pretender
Shame on Casey Pachall and the Horned Frogs if you expected either one of them to come through on the field, but it is tough since the TCU signal-caller could not even stay out of trouble.
TCU is lost on offense without their star and the losses will continue to occur if he is now around. Sadly, TCU was a two or three loss team if they would have stayed healthy and now the losses may pile up with all of the brutal losses they currently have going on in the backfield.
Ohio State- Contender
Braxton Miller is in the running for the Heisman, but the defense is finally coming to play some ball as well. Carlos Hyde found paydirt on four separate occasions but it was the duel-threat ability from Miller that allowed the Buckeyes to open up a Big Ten beatdown on Nebraska (payback from last year).
Notre Dame- Contender
Similar to the way Kansas State put a thumping on the Canes, the Irish accomplished the same type of victory. They are playing lights out right now and even a team like Stanford coming up may not be able to put up much consistent offense.
The Golden Domers look back in terms of BCS relevancy and we will only find out more about this offense when they takes on the likes of Oklahoma and USC.
Texas- Pretender
Can Jordan Hicks mean that much to this defense?
The star linebacker is a stud and is vital for the defense, but the front 7 has been atrocious all season and David Ash was unable to bail the defense out despite throwing for more yards than Geno (269 to 268).
West Virginia- Contender
The defense allowed 400 yards, but Geno Smith continue to spins it like the greatest Heisman quarterback ever. Take it easy, we are not even half way over with the season and there are a ton of more games to be played. Still, the numbers have to be illegal and the Mountaineers offense may very well take them all the way.
South Carolina- Contender
The Gamecocks are smelling the SEC East title, but the slate upcoming is horrific in terms of expecting a ton of success.
LSU and Florida both on the road is murderers row and they may be lucky to get one victory albeit the talent is more than good enough to compete in both of them.
They are the third best team in America, so hell yes they are contenders at the moment.
Georgia- Pretender
The defense was exhausted and they tapped out after taking a pounding all night against Marcus Lattimore and Jadeveon Clowney. The Gamecocks look for real and UGA better wake up on defense (and special teams) or else they will lose at least one more game (UF). Aaron Murray and this program has now lost their last 10 games against ranked opponents.
LSU- Pretender
The Bayou Bengals defense is still legit, but they are not the unmovable objects that some anticipated. Plus, the offense under Zach Mettenberger has not developed a whole lot since the playmakers are not the greatest in the country (let alone the SEC West or compared to the East even). The schedule only gets tougher with South Carolina coming to Baton Rouge and they also host Alabama in less than a month as well.
Oregon- Contender
Florida State, LSU and Georgia all lost which means the Ducks are only licking their chops even more these days. Oh, they also defeated Washington 52-21 in blowout fashion.
Florida State- Pretender
They let all of us down and for those who thought they would run the table, NC State was not the team that any expert expected to upset the third-ranked Noles.
NC State does have solid talent, but FSU could not put it together at any point during their terrible second half performance. The BCS is all not over with since they have the divisional tiebreaker over Clemson.
