Peyton Manning did not have the bounce in his step after a loss that many expected, but the season is still young and luckily the Broncos play in a division that is completely wide open.
Thank goodness because the Broncos cannot catch a cold these days if you threw it right at their faces. The defense, special teams and offense were abysmal albeit it was against arguably the two best in the NFL.
However, Denver is still a physical defensive squad up front led by Von Miller and Elvis Dumervil. Limiting Darren McFadden will be vital since he is the vocal part of the offense still.
Plus, late nights with Carson Palmer can always be challenging with their lack of stud wide receivers. Denarious Moore could be an interesting move for all of those fantasy owners out there, but this matchup should be a low-scoring affair.
Looking at most of the NFL contests this weekend, points may come at a premium which means fantasy owner may be disappointed if they are banking on a ton of points like most weeks.
The struggling offenses are not glaring since the points came in a bigger bunch compared to the last two years, but there are several other teams that are even worse off.
Manning has been throwing a few lame duck passes, but Willis McGahee will be counted on running the ball with such ease. Oakland against the run is allowing 116 yards per game, ranking just 20th in the NFL.
It gets worse against the pass, as the Raiders allow 264.7 yards per game (26th). If Oakland cannot improve on defense, they will not see the ball enough to compete in the division.
The Raiders desperately need some help on the defensive side of the ball, but their offensive and receivers have cost them for years.
Carson Palmer has answered some questions about his arm, but it doesn’t help when the weapons around him are among the worst in the NFL.
Denver playing at home gets the edge in this one as Manning will find Eric Decker and Demaryius Thomas when it matters most.
